The Petrol Price in Pakistan has been reduced by Rs3.93 per litre for three days, starting October 17, 2026. The price has dropped from Rs390.23 to Rs386.30 per litre. However, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) remains unchanged at Rs396.96 per litre.
Pakistan Cuts Petrol Prices While Diesel Rates Remain Unchanged
The last adjustment made is an insignificant increase in the price of petrol, but the price of diesel is unaffected. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines the prices of fuel through its evaluation of international oil prices and other costs.
| Fuel Type | Previous Price | New Price | Change |
| Petrol | Rs390.23 | Rs386.30 | Down Rs3.93 |
| High-Speed Diesel | Rs396.96 | Rs396.96 | No change |
According to the government, the price of the fuel is being evaluated on a daily basis to cater to any changes in the oil market. Nonetheless, the daily changes of the prices will not be done on Saturdays, Sundays, or during holidays. The present prices are effective until October 19.
Global Oil Market Affects Fuel Prices
Fuel prices in Pakistan are influenced by their purchase price in foreign countries. If there is any rise or fall in global fuel prices and other costs, the fuel prices in the local market might be affected as well. As stated by the OGRA, the last modification reflects changes in international fuel prices, premiums, and other costs.

The price of refined gasoline fell down to $124.39 per barrel, compared to $127.24 per barrel on October 16. In turn, the average price of high-speed diesel rose slightly from $108.53 to $108.54. This example proves that petrol and diesel prices sometimes do not change in the same way.
Petrol Import Costs Have Fallen
In addition, there is also evidence in the formal statement that the import cost of petroleum has gone down to Rs275.56 from Rs279.45 per litre. Thus, it is clear that the import cost of petrol has reduced in the current price review. On the other hand, the import cost of high-speed diesel has been stable and remains unchanged at Rs289.40 per litre. There may be many other costs involved in the total price paid by the consumers.
Both the taxes on fuels and profit margins have remained unchanged amid the Petrol Price Increase in Pakistan. The petroleum levy on petrol and high-speed diesel stands at Rs80 per litre, while the Climate Support Levy remains Rs5 per litre. Fuel dealers receive a profit margin of Rs9.98 per litre, while oil marketing companies (OMCs) earn Rs7.87 per litre. These profit margins have not been revised for either fuel. The Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM), which helps cover fuel transportation costs across the country, has also remained unchanged at Rs7.93 per litre for petrol and Rs4.71 per litre for high-speed diesel.

What the Price Change Means for Consumers
The reduction in the price of petrol would bring some relief to individuals who travel using automobiles, motorcycles, and other petrol-based means of transport. For instance, paying Rs39.30 for 10 liters of petrol based on the new rate entails a reduction from the old rate of purchasing the same amount of petrol.
There will be no reduction in the price of diesel in the latest update since the rate of its price is still at Rs396.96 per liter of diesel. Diesel is commonly used in the transport sector, among others. Fuel prices can vary depending on fluctuations in global oil prices, import charges, and other charges. The government and OGRA will continue to monitor the parameters that affect the pricing of fuels in the country. As far as now, petrol is being sold for Rs386.30 per liter and high-speed diesel for Rs396.96 per liter for the declared period of time. The consumers are advised to be updated about the prices through the official notices issued by the government.
