Meta has introduced a new “Meta Account” system that brings all its apps and devices under one unified login. This means users can now manage Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Meta AI, Meta Quest headsets, and AI glasses from a single account. The main purpose of this update is to make logging in easier and simplify account management across different Meta platforms.
Meta Introduces One Login for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp
With this new system, users will no longer need to switch between separate logins for different apps. Instead, one meta account will handle access to multiple services. This is designed to reduce confusion, save time, and make the overall user experience smoother and more connected across devices.
The rollout will happen gradually over the next year. Meta has confirmed that users who already use the Accounts Centre will be automatically upgraded to the new Meta Account system. Users will receive a notification once their account has been moved to the updated setup.
Meta also clarified that the day-to-day experience of using its apps will remain the same. While the backend system is changing, users will still use Facebook, Instagram, and other services in the same way as before, without any major changes in design or functionality.

One Login System Improves Access, Setup, and User Experience
The new Meta Account lets users sign in with one password for all apps. This removes the need to remember many passwords. It also makes setting up new apps and devices faster. Users can now use fingerprint, face scan, or device password through passkeys. This feature is already available on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. More apps will support it soon. Meta also said WhatsApp is optional. If users already connected WhatsApp to Accounts Center, it will stay linked. If not, WhatsApp will remain separate. Messages and calls will stay fully private with end-to-end encryption.
Enhanced Security, Privacy Controls, and Family Management Tools
Meta Account comes with improved security tools. These systems work 24/7 to stop suspicious activity. This helps protect accounts from hacking or misuse. Users will also get a Security Checkup tool. It shows important safety settings like two-factor authentication and login alerts. Passkeys also add stronger protection compared to normal passwords.
Meta says users still have full control over privacy settings. They can manage who sees their content and how their data is used across apps. The Meta Account gives users one place to manage key settings. This includes passwords, email addresses, and security options. It reduces the need to change settings in each app separately. However, app-specific settings will not change. For example, Facebook post privacy stays in Facebook settings. Instagram tagging settings will remain in Instagram.

For parents, Meta has added better tools through Family Centre. It allows them to manage teens’ accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Meta Horizon from one dashboard. This makes supervision easier and more organised. A Meta account supports Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger, Meta AI, AI glasses, and Meta Quest. WhatsApp is optional and can be added if users choose.
Users can also create separate meta accounts for different apps if they want. For example, one account for Facebook and another for Instagram. Meta says users who already use Meta Quest or AI glasses accounts will see improvements. The system will now work across more apps and devices for easier access and better security.
Meta’s new account system is designed to simplify how users log in and manage their apps. It also improves security with passkeys and protection tools. The company says this is just the start, and more features will come in the future. News source Etimes Pakistan
