YouTube has increased the prices of its Premium and YouTube Music subscriptions in the United States. The company confirmed the update on Friday.

Updated YouTube Premium and Music Plans
The company has revised several subscription plans, including individual, family, and Lite options.
- YouTube Premium Individual: $13.99 → $15.99 per month
- YouTube Premium Family: $22.99 → $26.99 per month
- YouTube Premium Lite: $7.99 → $8.99 per month
- YouTube Music Individual: $10.99 → $11.99 per month
- YouTube Music Family: $16.99 → $18.99 per month
These changes apply across all subscription categories in the US market. YouTube confirmed that the price change is not only for new users. Existing subscribers will also be moved to the new pricing.
Users will receive an email at least 30 days before their new billing amount starts. This gives them time to review or change their subscription plan if needed. A YouTube spokesperson said this is the first price increase since 2023.
The company said the new pricing helps maintain key features such as:
- Ad-free video experience
- Background playback
- Access to over 300 million songs on YouTube Music

YouTube last raised prices in July 2023. At that time:
- Premium increased from $11.99 to $13.99
- Music increased from $9.99 to $10.99
Since then, YouTube has grown a lot. In 2025, it had about 125 million subscribers for Premium and Music, up from 100 million in 2024. YouTube is not the only one raising prices. Many other streaming services have also made their subscriptions more expensive recently.
Platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and Peacock have all adjusted their prices over the past year. This shows that streaming services are slowly becoming more expensive.
